Texas Killing Fields

You know who the bad guy is from the outset, and despite its furious attempts to throw you off the scent you still spend the whole film thinking “I bet it was that creepy asshole”. This really is where this film works, the plot is thin and basically amounts to very little (which normally wouldnt matter but for a film which seems to spend so much time urging you to think it through it does) but the characters all work so well, maybe, in fact, a little too well, because you know exactly what they are all thinking and there are no surprises, the main pleasure is everyone doing just exactly what you think they should do. Partially in a predictable way but mostly in the good sort of way that makes a viewer feel ever so satisfied.
